Weekly Meals

One of the most beautiful things about this ministry is its commitment to family meals together.  Each Wednesday, children, youth and adults sit together, with an adult serving as a table parent.  This table parent helps guide the conversation about “highs and lows” for the week, and supports the students as they learn the value of a meal together.  What a wonderful way to model life as the family of God!

How Can You Help?

LOGOS Volunteer Opportunities

There are many opportunities to share Christ through the LOGOS program. The only requirement needed is that you love God, love God’s children and have a gift to share.

Carpool Drivers:  need to pick kids up after school and transport to the church. We have kids coming from Dyersville, Farley, Epworth and New Vienna.

Family Time Leader: plans menus and decorates the dining room for the theme for the week, shops, cooks, and calls for donations, keeps the kitchen clean and food safe, and provides guidance to all kitchen helpers.

Early Kitchen Helpers: comes in around 10am and does prep work ahead of time for dinner and snack, sets up the dining room.

Servers and Clean up: comes in between 3-5:30 and helps with kitchen duties through the meal and cleans up following family time.

Dinner Dean: one or two people who keep the dinner hour moving and in control (requires a loud voice and lots of patience). Usually starts at 5:00 by checking in with the kitchen crew and table parents. Leads opening prayer, birthdays and announcements.  Also is in charge of clean up and putting the fellowship area back in order for Sunday service.

Table Parents:  comes in around 5:15 checks in with the dinner dean, helps kids find their table and share dinner with a group of kids. Each week we choose one server for the table and this person goes to the window to get food and anything the guests at their table may need. To show our thanks no one at the table should begin eating until the server takes the first bite. Another must at dinner is that we share our highs and lows for the week.

Clean up Crew: The clean up crew assists the Dinner Dean with whatever needs to be cleaned up. Dishes, sweeping, taking down decorations, setting up the fellowship area and putting away supplies are all included.  Thank-you in advance for your service!

Opening Skit Leader: This person gets the program started after snack by providing an opening. Teaching and singing camp songs, preparing skits or puppet shows and assisting Pastor Stephanie with preparation for our Logos Family Night Worship are all included. Opening is 3:45-4:15 and closing worship is 6:30-7:00pm.

Opening Skit  Helpers: assist the leader in any way they need and must be present during this class time. Participation in singing, offering and LISTENING is a must.  Worship is one of the most important things we practice with the kids and we need crowd control!

Recreation Leader: this class runs from 4:15-4:45.  The leader will plan games and activities for the whole group to encourage teamwork and support to each other. Also will need to gather any supplies or do any set up needed.

Recreation Helpers:  be present at the class and assist the leader.  Participation again is a must.  The kids love to see adults playing!

Great spot for teens to help in this area.

Bible Study Teachers: Classes are broken down into groups by age. 2-PK, K-1st grade, 2-3rd grade, and 4-6th grade. The time for this class is 4:45-5:30. There is also a 7th-highschool class that meets after closing worship 7-8:30pm. You do not need to know everything about the bible to teach these classes. We have a curriculum with lots of choices for activities for all age groups.

Youth Group Counselor/Bible Study Teacher: we have a real important need for an adult to play, hang out and plan activities with our youth ages 7-12th grade. We do have lots of kids in this age group that we need to serve. Is God calling you?

Laundry: pick up dirty laundry and wash and return before the next week.

If you are just not sure how God is calling you to serve through this program we suggest you come experience it for a while and see what gifts you have that could benefit the program. We are always in need of floaters and subs as well!
